Program Deposit
All Summer Abroad and Global Internships programs require a $300 program deposit at the time of application.
If accepted to a program, the $300 deposit will be applied towards the program fee. If you request to withdraw your application prior to an admission decision being issued or cancel your participation after being accepted to the program, the deposit will still be charged to your CalCentral account and not refunded.
The program deposit is only refunded under the following circumstances:
- If you are denied admission by Berkeley Study Abroad
- If you are waitlisted and you choose not to apply to any other open programs
- If the program you applied to is canceled by Berkeley Study Abroad
- By appeal due to extenuating circumstances. In cases where a student is unable to participate in a program due to circumstances beyond their control, an appeal for a refund may be submitted for review. For example, a refund appeal may be approved for the following circumstances:
- Personal medical emergency that prevents travel
- Death in the family (as verified by official documentation)
Program Fee
A refund of the program fee, minus the deposit, will be issued if you cancel by 11:59 pm PST March 15, 2025 for the Global Internships Program or 11:59 pm PST April 4, 2025 for the Summer Abroad Program, by submitting the Program Enrollment Change Form via your online application status portal. If the request is received after 11:59 pm on the deadline, you will not be eligible for a refund of the program fee. If payment has not yet been made, you will owe the program fee.
