Emergency action plan
Each Berkeley Summer Abroad and Berkeley Global Internship participant will receive an Emergency Action Plan relevant to their program and location. The Emergency Action Plan will include emergency contact numbers, your 1 clear method of communication, and emergency assembly points. (sample template)
Mental health support
Even if you’ve never had mental health concerns before, that can change while you’re abroad. Anxiety, depression, mood swings, and more can be brought on or exacerbated by not only culture shock, but also time zone changes, jet lag, separation from your family and friends, and spending time alone.
- Option 1: Call the travel assistance numbers on your CHUBB Travel Insurance card to access mental health/therapy appointments, referrals to local doctors, reimbursements and more.
- Option 2: Students with SHIP can use Berkeley SHIP abroad flier for assistance finding mental health providers abroad and reimbursement instructions.
- Crisis Counseling & Support: (855) 817-5667, available 24/7
